For my unique object I went through a few ideas before I found the strongest one. I wanted to incorporate the bar code from infinite print on my unique object and the idea of price. My first idea was to create a set of stickers that were bar codes. The stickers could be used to place on items you felt were important to you. I realized this idea might have not been the most unique so I decided it might be interesting to put the bar codes on things that are very expensive (possibly cars, expensive purse, house, etc.). From that idea I came to the idea of putting the bar codes on things that are priceless. This makes the whole idea more interesting and goes well with the sarcasm of my infinite print. I decided to put the bar codes on old black and white photos of moments in time which were priceless. Family dinner, family outing, family holiday, etc.

  1. It is interesting to think of the ubiquity of commerce, is there anything you really can't put a price tag on? People have been critiquing the effects of capitalism since before Karl Marx whose theories on Socialism led to the only alternative system other than totalitarianism to be given a try. Are you critiquing the system? And if so, how can you be more specific? Possibly look at the work of Barbara Kruger who's work went from critiquing consumer culture to being used by a retail outlet as a design for their shopping bags.
